Alice Jeane Wutke

Alice Jeane Wutke, age 89, passed away at Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Concordia, MO on October 25, 2015. She was born on Dec. 24, 1925 in Creighton, MO, the daughter of James Alfred Thomas and Enid Vannice Thomas. Her love for her family and lively personality will be missed but her passion for caring for others and devotion to God and her church will always be treasured in our hearts. Alice graduated as valedictorian of her class at Osceola High School and later attended a semester at CMSU. She worked for Vendo Company and TWA in Kansas City and married Kenneth Albert Wutke on July 3, 1946. Ken preceded her in death on February 20, 1990. Alice and Ken resided in Kansas City from 1946-1951. They began farming on properties in 1951, moving from land near Urich, to East Lynne, to Holden. Alice worked for 23 years at the Holden Progress, retiring in 1994 as City Editor. While at Holden she loved farming, fishing, gardening, observing nature, and participating in activities at Trinity Lutheran Church at Creighton. Alice moved to Warrensburg and faithfully volunteered at the Food Center, the Clothes Closet, Meals on Wheels, the WMMC gift shop, Braille Workers of Concordia, and in many areas of service as a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. She enjoyed Bible Studies, reading, bird watching, crosswords, crazy hard jig-saw puzzles and time with family and friends. Alice is survived by her children, Katherine Bowler and her husband George of Warrensburg, MO; Thomas Wutke and his wife Julie of Springfield, MO; Michael Wutke and his wife Janet of Marshfield, MO; a sister Eleanor Langford and her husband Roy of Kansas City, MO; 8 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at Bethlehem Lutheran Church at 11:00am on November 7, 2015 with Pastor Joel R. Kurz officiating. Family members will be present from 10:30-11:00 to welcome those attending. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial donations be given to Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Warrensburg, MO; Good Shepherd Home, Concordia, MO; or Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org). Ben Cast & Son-Wood Funeral Home is arranging a private interment with the family.
