Emma Kate Edwards

Emma Kate Edwards, 4 years of age, passed away on Wednesday, January 8, 2020 at her home in Holden, MO. She was preceded in death by her Great Grandpa Edwin Edwards from Blairstown, MO and Great Grandparents Gayle and Wilma Dull from Quincy, MO. She was born on August 27, 2015 at 7:33 pm at Western Missouri Medical Center weighing 5 lbs. 8 oz. 18 inches long to Erika Danielle Edwards. On this day, she was described by her mother as "the absolute cutest little girl I've ever seen in my life." Emma loved her naps. She would stay up late with her mommy, then loved being cuddled on the couch until she fell asleep again. She loved being in the kitchen and helping mommy cook. She loved it when her mommy called her "Suga Bean" as well as many other nicknames given to her by her mommy and family. Emma loved cuddles and kisses. She would pucker her lips and wait until mommy would give her a big kiss on the lips. Emma's olive skin glowed with happiness. She always got compliments on her beautiful skin. Her smiles would light up a room and were brighter than the sun. She loved being in big crowds and hearing her mother laugh and joke around. Emma loved going to Starbucks, Wal-Mart and Target with her mommy often for outings. She would sometimes meet up with her aunts and cousins for a fun day out. Emma was a good traveler. Her mommy wanted her to see the world as much as she could. She was able to travel to 5 different states. One of those states being Florida, which she got to travel to twice. The first time Emma traveled to Florida in 2016, she got to see the ocean and is where she smiled for the first time. Her second trip was in 2019 for her Make-A-Wish trip to Disney World. She got to meet all the Disney princesses as well as Mickey and Minnie Mouse and so much more. She got to stay at Give Kids the World Village. Emma was able to do a lot of different activities because of her mother. Erika wanted Emma to experience the world and to not miss out on anything. She made it possible for Emma to ride a horse and pony and took her to many holiday and community events. She loved aquariums, parks, lights, carnivals and being around other children. Emma will be remembered for her beautiful thick curly hair, her luscious lips, her very stylish outfits, her glowing skin, her grace, strength and her happiness that radiated. Emma was the first of three grandchildren. She is survived by her mother, Erika Edwards of the home; grandparents John and Kendra Goucher Holden, MO; Gary Edwards and Sheryl Nelson Lee's Summit, MO; great grandmother Margaret Edwards Blairstown, MO; aunts Jessica and husband Ryan Averitt, Clinton, MO; Kendall Edwards and fiancé Jake Leonard, Knob Noster, MO; and cousins Reese Shumate, Peyton and Klaira Leonard and many other extended family members. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Family or the Ronald McDonald House of Kansas City. Services entrusted to the Campbell-Cast Funeral Home in Holden, MO.
