UPDATE - CELEBRATION OF LIFE - A Celebration of Life will be Saturday, September 19, 2026 at Mary's Corral, 512–514 W. State Route 58 , Strasburg, MO from 3:00 PM - 5:00PM. All are welcomed to attend. "John Walter Simpson”, of Kingsville, MO left this earth at his home on August 16th, 2026, at age 64, surrounded by love and his family. He fought a short but courageous battle with Pancreatic Cancer. John was born June 24th, 1962, at the American Air Force Base in the Philippine Islands to Sandra Hoskins Simpson and Gerald Lee Simpson. He grew up in Linneus, MO where he went on to graduate from Linn County R-1 High School in Browning, MO in 1981. Shortly after graduation, he left for Texas to pursue a career as a Concrete Finisher. He eventually moved back to Lees Summit, MO where he met and married Cheri Howerton Ferguson in 2008. He continued working in the concrete business where he joined the Cement Masons and Plasters Union Local 518 in 2006. John, his wife and stepdaughter moved to Kingsville, MO in 2018 where they bought a small farm. John loved his family and enjoyed the farm life. He was very proud to become a Grandpa in August 2025. John had a great sense of humor, was lots of fun and was always willing to help anyone out that needed him. He enjoyed spending time at home with his family, friends and animals. He truly loved the country life. He was preceded in death by his father Gerald Lee Simpson; Stepfather John A Burns; Stepbrother Mitchel Burns, Stepsister Anita Burns; and Son in law Derek Scott. He is survived by his wife Cheri of the home, stepdaughter Cheyanne Scott (Mitch) with Grandson Cohen of Kingsville, MO; Brother-in-law Clayton Howerton Jr. (Rachel) of Kingsville, MO; Sister-in-law Caren Haldiman (Greg) of Greenwood, MO; Brother-in-law Scott Brown of Warsaw, MO; Sister-in-law Beverly Zacharias (Frank) of Kansas City, KS; Nieces and Nephews Kierston, Justin, Aaron, Carah, Carey, Brandi, Jeff, Mindy and Michelle. Multiple of great little nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his mother Sandra (Hoskins) Simpson Burns of Brookfield, MO; three sisters Linda Johnson (Scott) of Kirksville, MO; Janet Marriott (Shayne) of Clinton, MO; Carol Robison (John) of Brookfield, MO; Nieces and Nephews Natasha, Luke, Monica, Bryn, Derek, Ashlie and Alison; Multiple little great nieces and nephews; Step sister in law Anne Burns; Step brother in law Earl Washam; Step siblings Linda (David), Bob (Debbie) and nieces and nephews Ryan, Lauren, Courtney, Whitney, Abby, DJ, Daniel and Sierra. He leaves behind a lot of wonderful friends and work buddies- too many to list individually, who he shared so many ornery memories with. Heaven has gained a very special man, words can simply not express how much he was loved by so many, and he will forever be missed. “Wherever a Beautiful Soul has been, there is a trail of Beautiful memories”. “Until we meet again, soar high on angel wings”" In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made in memory of him to his beloved wife, Cheri Simpson.
