Richard Wilson Young III

Richard Wilson Young III, 62 of rural Chilhowee, Missouri passed away unexpectedly at his home Saturday February 11, 2023. He was born in Millington, Tennessee on October 24, 1960 to Richard and Sara (Atkins) Young. Richard joined the United States Navy in January of 1983 and served full time till September of 2003. He became a reserve until his Honorable Discharge in 2005. During his time in the military his primary specialties were Surface Communication Maintenance Technician and Communication Equipment Technician. He received many medals, ribbons, and commendations during his service to our country. Richard came to Missouri in 2003 to meet Brenda Miller. It was not long after, that Missouri became his new home. He inherited all Brenda’s family with open arms. He became dad, grandfather, brother, and uncle to the family members and friend to everyone who met him. He had several hobbies such as grilling out, horseback riding, hunting, shooting, fishing, bonfires and a love of cats. He truly enjoyed spending time with Brenda and the family. Richard would do anything for anyone. He had a heart of gold. He had deep spiritual roots and was willing to share the Lord’s word with anyone who would receive it. He will be deeply missed. Richard is survived by his daughter Sara Young of Oxford, IN; brothers, John (Diane) Young of Florence, AL and Bill (BJ) Young of Pleasantview, TN; sister, Cathy (Art) Hall of Germantown, TN; grandchildren Olivia and Evelynn Crowder. His extended Missouri family includes his life partner and best friend Brenda Miller of the home; children Timothy (Misty) Miller of Chilhowee, MO and Jimmie (Casey) Miller Jr, of Holden, MO; grandchildren Alexis Miller and Kaylee Miller of Chilhowee, MO, Andrew Miller, Christopher Jewell and Mariah Jewell of Holden, MO, Breanna Sheets and Taylor Parton of St. Joseph, MO, Timothy Miller of Wathena, KS, and Hailey Arbogast of Higginsville, MO; many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. Preceding Richard in death were his parents Richard and Sara Young and one brother James Young. There will be a Celebration of life on Saturday February 18, 2023 at 2PM at the Chilhowee Baptist Church, 101 Pennsylvania Ave., Chilhowee, MO 64733.
