Bonnie Jean (Prue) Harter, 91 of Kansas City, Missouri, formerly of Holden, passed away on Saturday, October 30, 2021, at her daughter's home surrounded by family. She was born Thursday, September 4, 1930 in Kansas City, and was the daughter of the late Joseph Prue and the late Julia (Crabtree) Prue. She was the wife of the late Ralph D. Harter Jr. She was a graduate of St. Mary's Catholic High School in Kansas City. Bonnie married Ralph Harter in 1949 and from this union they had 5 children. They spent 51 years married until Ralph's passing in 2000. Bonnie was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. Bonnie and Ralph moved to a farm north of Holden in 1976. She was a homemaker and spent her days caring for her family. She enjoyed volunteering as a coach at the bowling alley for handicapped adults. She and Ralph would have an annual hayride that hundreds of locals would attend every year. Bonnie loved family gatherings and large dinners. She was a great cook and enjoyed entertaining friends and family. She was very competitive and quite the board game and card player. All the family holidays were spent on the farm where Bonnie would entertain and was a great hostess. Bonnie loved spending time with her grandchildren and loved her many pets. She was known for taking in stray dogs and would give them a loving home. Bonnie and Ralph loved to fly and even had their own runway and plane on the farm. Bonnie will be sorely missed by her family, friends, and her grateful pets that she loved so much. Surviving are one son, Michael Harter of Riverside, MO; four daughters, Joyce Baker of Lake Ozark, MO, Sherry (John) Wolzak of Independence, MO, Gail (Steve) Bowles of Kansas City, Linda McCool of Lady Lake (The Villages), FL; ten grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ralph; and one brother, Joseph Prue. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Wednesday, November 3, 2021, at Campbell-Cast Funeral Home 407 S. Pine St. Holden, Missouri. A funeral service will be held at 7:00 PM at the funeral home with her grandson, Lee Baker officiating. Cremation will follow the service.
