Glenn Wilson Fitzgerel Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Glenn Wilson Fitzgerel, 88, of Independence, Missouri, passed away peacefully with his family by his side, on Thursday, June 9, 2022. He was born on March 1, 1934, in Blairstown, Missouri to the late Floyd and Ruby Fitzgerel. Glenn went to school in Holden and worked for the Holden Creamery until joining the United States Army in 1953. He was a firefighter in the military until he was honorably discharged in 1955. He married the love of his life, Darlene and they made their home in Independence where they raised their 2 daughters. He spent the next 40+ years working as a forklift driver for Associated Grocers. He was a proud member of the Teamsters Union. Glenn was a simple man and enjoyed the simple things in life. He was proud of his daughters and even more so of his grandchildren. He will be missed dearly by everyone who knew him. Glenn was preceded in death by his lovely wife, Darlene; his parents, Floyd and Ruby; his brother, Ray Fitzgerel; his sister, Jean McCaskill; his son-in-law, Russell Raber. Surviving his passing are his 2 daughters, Sherri Reed and Debbi Raber both of Blue Springs, MO; 2 grandchildren, Kyle (Rachel) Reed, Kelly (Chris) Schulz; 4 great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held in the Holden Cemetery with full military honors on Tuesday, June 14, 2022, at 11:00 AM with Josh Christy officiating.
