Evelyn Y. Burden

Evelyn Y. Burden, 69 of Independence, MO passed away at The Kansas City Hospice House on January 31, 2014. Evelyn was born on February 24, 1944, in Bronaugh, MO, the daughter of Dean H. and Florence E. Dickey. She graduated from William Chrisman High School in 1962. She lived most of her life in between Independence and Holden, MO and while in Holden was a member of the First Baptist Church where she often played the piano. She also loved dancing and being a member of the Holden On Square Dance Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Keith Burden of 39 years; parents Dean H. and Florence E. Dickey. She is survived by two sons, Keith Burden and Mark Burden, Holden, MO; one daughter; Lisa LaFever of Independence, MO; six grandchildren, Crystal Burden-Bond, Nicholas Burden, Jason Burden, Jordon Pearce, Connor Boyce and Kelsey Burden, and two step-grandaughters, Destiny Crain and Sariah Sewell and her daughter Sabrina; brothers; Larry D. Dickey and wife Jill of Raymore, MO, Ronnie R. Dickey and wife Cindy of Warsaw, MO and sister Connie F. Janssens and husband Carl of Kansas City, MO; numerous nieces and nephews who loved their Aunt very much, A special thanks to Evelyn’s dear friends Judy Kelsey and husband Dave of Independence, MO. Evelyn will be remembered as a loving wife, a wonderful mother, sister, aunt, friend and the absolute best grandma that anyone could ever ask for. Those of us who knew her were blessed she was in our lives. She will truly be missed. In lieu of flowers donations can be sent to the American Cancer Society for Breast Cancer Research. The family would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff at the Kansas City Hospice House for their loving support and care of Evelyn during her last days. Funeral Service will at Ben Cast & Son-Wood Funeral Home, Holden, Missouri (816) 732-5531. Family will receive friends between 10:00 AM and 11:00 AM, February 05, 2014, with services immediately following at 11:00am.
